A Welcome Message from President Kress

Welcome to Monroe Community College.

MCC is a wonderful place to learn. From young adults to lifelong learners, students thrive and grow here.

Each year, more than 36,000 MCC students prepare for a new career or pursue a rediscovered passion. Some choose to develop their leadership, team and communication skills by getting involved in one of our clubs or organizations. Many take online courses and fit their classwork into busy lives already filled with work and families.

I encourage you to join them.

Maybe you decided to be a teacher in high school or have wanted to be a firefighter ever since kindergarten. Maybe you want to be an executive chef or just learn a little more about computers. Maybe you’re confused or undecided, struggling with the nagging question of what you want to be when you grow up—or maybe you’re planning for your second, third, or even fourth career.

Many of last year’s graduates transferred straight from MCC to more than 135 colleges and universities. Other graduates were on the career fast track and were hired by over 800 employers. Our alumni become doctors, teachers, nurses and lawyers. They are elected officials, auto mechanics, police officers and engineers. And they each once stood exactly where you are now standing – at the doorway to a new future.

When I first arrived on campus, one of the things that struck me was the collective enthusiasm and commitment of faculty members, counselors, administrators and staff. Their passion for student success is such a powerful force that it’s contagious. MCC is fortunate to be filled with the kind of generous individuals who are happy to share the expertise of their chosen fields. I urge you to take advantage of their assistance, guidance, and knowledge.

I would also encourage you to remember that what you put into your educational pursuit at MCC will surely determine what you take away from the experience.

So, ask questions. Study hard. Get to know your professors. Give it all you’ve got. Learn to love learning. And along the way, let me know how you’re doing by emailing: MCC President Kress@monroecc.edu. Your success is our success. We're glad you're here!
