Monroe Community College Foundation 14th Annual Gold Star Gala Presented by The Monroe Community College Foundation hosted the 14th Annual Gold Star Gala, A Night at the Stardust Lounge presented by M&T Bank, at Monroe Golf Club on Saturday, April 28. Honorary Chairs Ed Pettinella and Ann Wallace, along with Dinner Chairs Mary Kay and Ed Parrone, helped raise more than $120,000 to support student scholarships at MCC - a record-breaking fundraiser for the MCC Foundation! Special thanks to M&T Bank for being the Gala's lead underwriter for the seventh year in a row! We are also grateful to Honorary Chairs Ed Pettinella & Ann Wallace and to the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation for their generous underwriting support. Guests were entertained by the MCC Music Majors Student Quartet led by John Nyerges before dancing to MCC's own Rat Pack, including Jack Baron, Al Casey, Ned Davis, Brian McMahon, Len Redon and Jeremy Wolk, with Lake Effect. There was even a special guest performance by Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and MCC President Anne Kress! A lively auction and scholarship call was presided over by Howie Jacobson of Dixon Schwabl. Charles Benoit '84 also of Dixon Schwabl, and a 2011 MCC Alumni Hall of Fame inductee, once again served as the highly affable emcee of the evening. The event created 20 new scholarships for deserving MCC students. Proceeds from the Gold Star Gala support student scholarships and program innovation at Monroe Community College.
