MCC tops Elmira JV to cap regular season

ROCHESTER - The MCC volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a three-game victory over the Elmira JVs Tuesday. 

The game scores were 25-7, 25-12, 25-7.  Monroe prevailed on a night when the team honored its two sophomores, Ashley Kelly (Greece, NY/Greece Athena) and Virginia Combs (Penfield, NY/Mercy).

Erica Thompson (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led the way with 10 kills and no errors for Monroe.  Kelsi Blum (Livonia, NY/Livonia) added seven kills and a pair of aces.

Kelly finished with seven kills and three digs and Combs chipped in with 19 assists, four digs, two kills, and one ace.

MCC is seeded fifth at the Region III, Division III tournament, which takes place at Niagara County Community College this weekend.  The Tribunes head into regionals with a record of 28-12.
