MCC finishes fourth in NATYCAA Cup
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Monroe Community College finished in fourth place in the Scholarship Division for the 2010-2011 NATYCAA Cup.
Rankings in the NATYCAA Cup are formulated by awarding NJCAA institutions with points based on competition at NJCAA Championship events. A first place finish is worth 20 points; second place is worth 19 points; etc. The top five best finishes from each school qualify for points in the standings.
Iowa Central CC won the Scholarship Division for the third straight season.
MCC finished with 122.5 points, falling just two behind third-place Iowa Western CC. Monroe was paced by a pair of national champions; the Tribune golf team captured its third straight NJCAA Division III title, while the women's lacrosse team won for the second year in a row.
The Tribune hockey team also factored heavily into the overall standings, finishing runner-up at the national tournament. The men's and women's swimming and diving teams capped outstanding seasons by finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, at the national meet.
Monroe's softball team also placed fifth at its national tourney, and the women's soccer team participated at the national level as well.
The 2010-2011 academic year marks the eighth year of the NATYCAA Awards Program. NATYCAA (National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators) is the national organization of all two-year athletic administrators from the United States.
MCC took top honors in 2006 and 2007, and has finished second three other times.
