MCC suffers first losses
KIRTLAND, Ohio - The MCC men's basketball team suffered its first two losses of the season at the TJ Memorial Classic, losing to Glen Oaks CC 64-63 and Mercyhurst North East 112-106.
The fourth-ranked Tribunes fall to 4-2 on the season.
MCC had a chance against Glen Oaks late in the game. Trailing by one with two seconds remaining, Kenny Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Abington Friends) put up a baseline jumper that bounced off the rim.
Algeron Torrance (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) led the Tribunes with 13 points, while Isaiah Jefferson (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo East) chipped in with 12.
Saturday's game against Mercyhurst NE was wide open, as the Saints jumped out to a big early lead. MCC fought back in the second half but couldn't catch up.
Andre Armstrong (Queens, NY/Notre Dame Prep) led Monroe with 22 points, including four 3-pointers. Marcus Feagin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) added 19 points, and Jefferson had 14 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
