MCC golfers claim regional championship

CORTLAND, NY - The Monroe Community College golf team won its third consecutive Region III golf championship, holding off Genesee CC by six strokes at Cortland Country Club.

The Tribunes had a team score of 298 Tuesday to finish the two-day event at en even 600.  The Cougars had a 295 Tuesday to finish at 606.

Shane Dobesh (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) shot his second straight 74 to win individual medalist honors for Monroe.  Anthony Colosi (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) had a 77 on day two and finished two strokes back at 150.

Tim McCall (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) shot a 74 on day two, Alex McKee (Newmarket, ON/Sir William Mulock) had a 73, and Mike Catalano (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-No. Syracuse) an 80

All five golfers earned All-Region accolades for their performances.
